History of a particular nameless creek [Pinna Nobilis]

Pinna Nobilis shells, 73 x 96 cm, Izmir-Istanbul, 2019

Pinna Nobilis (2019) displays framed broken pinna nobilis shells which were collected from the Aegean Sea. The work represents the unknown extinction of an unknown species. Pinna nobilis is a very little known species and they are disappearing in large numbers because of climate change. It is a kind of loss that we are not aware of. The work is part of the series History of a particular nameless creek (2019) that Deniz produced for the occasion of the 16th Istanbul Biennial.
