Unrealized Journey Elmas Deniz

“Unrealised Journey” drawing series consists on two series of drawing, which I selected and copied from encyclopaedia. In most of my installations and works I use some of drawings from Unrealized Journey in different displaying methods; digital prints, wall drawing, original versions all in variable sizes.

I used originals in “Visitor” exhibition in Istanbul and used them as part of my work in “Normalization /3”Platform garanti CAC, “Nothing Can Happen to Us” Altı Aylık Project Space, Istanbul, “Land Mines” in Lebanon.

The images of the first edition of the serial have been selected rather in self-referential way. Each of them has its symbolic narratives. The starting point of my work was a sort of idea of travel without moving.

The second series is mostly shows scientific researches, and some inventions. When I was collecting first series I notice that many encyclopaedias has these kinds of presentations of technologic developments. Then I started to focus on collecting through in that aspect. The idea of development and displaying methods of the scientific and technologic developments via encyclopaedia become main motive of the second edition.
